We love this time of year.
It’s the time of year for carving turkey and serving up pumpkin pie. It’s time for reflecting on the blessings of our lives, and our family and friends feature front and center for what we’re most grateful for! Some of us are planning a big dinner at home, while others find themselves bundling into the car and driving to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at family or friends’ homes.
If you’re hosting the big meal this year, you’ve probably been dusting off Grandma’s stuffing recipe, or shopping for new turkey pans. You might even risk the scorn of a whole branch of family by trying a new recipe for this traditional meal! (It’s becoming more common; lots of folks don’t even serve turkey at Thanksgiving anymore!

Thanksgiving may be just around the corner, but there’s plenty of time to plan centerpieces that charm. You might even be inspired to make something to bring as a host/hostess gift this season! Here are some of our favorites from Country Living:
Pair apples with greenery in a serving bowl or on a cake stand for a lush and bountiful presentation. You can hollow out apple cores and use them as candle holders, too.
Put a new twist on those cute mini pumpkins by attaching guest place cards. Bonus: add a message of gratitude to the back or insides of the place cards.
Make a “Gratitude Tree” with thin branches in a vase. Have guests write what they’re thankful for on paper leaves, and hang them on the tree with ribbon.
Is your table overflowing with guests? Decorate the kids’ table with craft paper, and let them color! Warning: your grownup guests may get jealous!
Don’t forget other areas of the house!
The mantel in the living room is the perfect canvas for a simple, welcoming display of pumpkins, leaves and chalk art.
